This video was filmed in NYC 1980. It was a birthday surprise for me from Ornette Coleman. We were set up to rehearse some songs we were collaborating on. Ornette assembled a wonderful group of musicians to help develop the arrangments he wrote for me, including his son Denardo Coleman on drums, Jamaldeen Tacuma on electric bass, Berns Nix on electric guitar, Billy Bang on violin, George Cartwiright on alto and John Marshall on trumpet. A moblie recording studio pulled up in front of the loft building and a video crew came upstairs. I was actually very upset at first, I felt we were not ready to be recorded and I was very nervous about being so unprepared. What a joy it is now to me to have this video to share. Thank You Ornette!!
